Pott factory in Totana

With a short break from a relaxing holiday in Spain, a two hour drive further south, in Totana, Murcia, I got to visit the factory of my favorite lighting brand, Pott. Making beautiful ceramic lamps, combining traditional method with modern design under the motto of “Taking artisan world to the next level while keeping up human tradition” - for those who value design made by the human hand.

As the company is growing in size, a new location was needed to gather the production and the office at the same place. Being a designer himself, owner Miguel Ángel García Belmonte knows the importance of working as a team to get all the elements right to from idea to finished product. The new space for Pott will make it easier to follow the process at one and the same place.

Come fall, there will also be a new showroom to display all the new series that has emerged, many from new collaborations with designers from both Spain, Denmark and Japan. We can’t wait to see them! At the moment, we’re excited to show a new range of colors and glazes, both matte and glossy, or as they say in Spain, “brillante”.

It’s always inspiring to visit the makers, the creatives and also the people that has the trade and the details of every products under their skin. Javier de Zaráte is one of these, working with Pott to make sure that the boxes from the factory gives value in the right places, projects and with the right people. With a broad experience in the furniture industry and an eye for design, you should think that would be enough for a good resume, but it’s only a fraction of what really gives value to the collaboration. As soon as you come in, the ceramicists, the team and especially Javier and Miguel gives you the feeling of being a member of the team, valued, heard and understood. Working with Pott for more than 10 years, I’ve seen the collection grow and the company evolve and I’m utterly excited to launch new products in Norway, to continue bringing “hot design to cold climates”.
